Sneak Peek: Upcoming Features of the CarrChain App

With the upcoming launch of our rewards portal, we’re one step closer to our goal of bridging the gap between blockchain and the automotive industry. After our rewards portal launch, we’ll move straight into development for our foundational application: CarrChain 1.0. Today, we’re giving you a sneak peek “under the hood” of CarrChain and its integration with the CARR Token rewards program.

What is CarrChain?

CarrChain is our foundational blockchain-powered application that’s currently in development. It not only keeps your car records and vehicle information organized in an easy-to-use app, but it also allows you to earn rewards while you do it.

Members will be able to log and store maintenance information, registration status, insurance information, ownership transfers, and so much more on top of what is usually documented by DMV, collision center, or insurance companies.

As a member, you’ll also have easy access to real-time updates on the market value of your vehicle, safety recalls information, and even find customized recommendations for oil, service, repairs, and more.

On top of the convenience of record-keeping, CarrChain rewards you for taking care of your vehicle. Paid memberships will give you the option of earning 1% to 5% back in CARR tokens on services ranging from oil changes to new car purchases.

Yes, that’s right: you get paid for taking care of your car.

Why Track Your Vehicle's History

There are many reasons why tracking your vehicle’s history is beneficial for you. We took a deep dive into five of the biggest reasons we feel it pays off in this recent article.

They included factors like:

  • Increase your vehicle’s resale value
  • Lower vehicle maintenance cost
  • Keep on top of safety recalls
  • Ensure you’re paying a fair price for a new or used vehicle
  • Make the most of your vehicle’s warranty
When it comes to record-keeping, it’s important to remember that not all auto service providers keep or report accurate records for services performed on your vehicle. In fact, unless you’ve brought your car or truck in for a significant repair or major service, that information may never be linked to your car’s VIN at all.

That leaves suspicious gaps in your car’s service record that until now could only be addressed by stuffing your glove compartment full of receipts and oil-stained papers.

CarrChain offers the most comprehensive repository of a vehicle’s history, aggregating data from all traditional sources and combining it with user-generated records. This allows owners to establish a Value Score for their vehicle that is tracked and updated in the CarrChain application. When it comes time to sell — or buy — a vehicle, you’ll have an extra layer of insight available into the car’s history, maximizing its value and ensuring you pay a fair price.

Take a Tour of the CarrChain App

Now that you know why tracking your vehicle’s history with CarrChain is so valuable let’s take a peek under the hood and take a closer look at the CarrChain app’s user interface and features.

My Garage

As soon as you open the app, you’ll find the My Garage page, which is where all vehicles currently registered to your account will be listed.

From this screen, you can take a number of important actions:

  • Log a report for a vehicle
  • View the Value Score Meter
  • Access reporting
  • Access each vehicle page
Let’s take a closer look at a few of these areas within the CarrChain app.

Logging a Report

Logging a new report for your car is easy on the CarrChain app. All you have to do is click the Report New Log button from the My Garage page or the Vehicle Page and follow the prompts. You can log either a service, repair, or incident.

Under these two categories, additional subcategories are available. These include service options like:

  • Oil Change
  • Tune-Up
  • Brake Pads & Drums
  • Tires
  • Routine Inspection
  • Other

Clicking “other” will give you an expanded list of searchable service categories.

For standard services like oil changes and tune-ups, for example, you’ll have the option of reserving a service appointment at a nearby shop or service center from within the app.

If you don’t see the service provider you’re looking for, all you need to do is open the map, browse additional professionals, or search for your preferred provider.

Once you select the shop you’d like to schedule service with, you’ll be able to enter the preferred type of oil and other details. The recommended oil for your vehicle, for example, will auto-populate. You can, however, select a different oil from a list of options or enter your desired oil manually.

In addition to reserving a service appointment, you’ll also be able to choose an option that allows you to service the vehicle yourself. For this option, the application simply skips over the vendor selection step and takes you right to your space to enter any relevant information about the service.

Once service is complete, you’ll be able to upload any receipts or relevant documents to add an additional layer of credibility to your vehicle’s history.

Reporting Categories

Using scrolling pagination on the My Garage page, users can access historical reporting from their digital garage, putting your vehicle’s entire history at your fingertips. (No more digging through piles of receipts in your glove compartment.)

Explore service and ownership records like oil changes, tune-ups, tires, brakes and drums, tires, routine inspections, and ownership history.

You’ll also have quick access to incident reports and even time-based depreciation metrics.

The Vehicle Page

While your digital garage compiles all the cars you own, the individual vehicle pages display all of the relevant details about each selected vehicle, including:

Value Score Meter

Think of this metric as something of a credit score or trust rating, but for your car. On a scale from 100-1,000, your vehicle’s value score shows the relative worth of your vehicle compared to others on the road.

Vehicles with highly detailed records will achieve a higher score than vehicles with a spotty maintenance record.

The key difference here is that instead of being forced to rely on reports like CarFax that are largely out of your control (and nowhere near all-encompassing in terms of which records are included), you now have complete control over how your vehicle is presented to the world.

Stay on top of maintenance and be sure to log service and you’ll enjoy a higher value score and reap the benefits that come with it.
